Pink Prairie is the first apron I made when I began this business as my Facebook friends will recall. Not my first apron ever, but the one that got me back in the game. I had pieces and parts already cut out from a long time ago. What I didn’t have was enough of the pink material, or the pink flowered material to finish it. The fabric, while well preserved in a plastic tub, had sun faded, which is evident in one spot at the bottom of the skirt.
As I prepared the lining, I was also mentally calculating how to best put all the pieces together. I was looking for faster, easier ways that will save me time later. While the apron is well constructed, and pretty, I would call it my “pattern piece”. On the back, where the bib and skirt meet, I wanted to see if I could just over lap the two pieces and zig zag over the seam. I shouldn’t. But this apron is made that way.
I also think that the lining is too heavy for this particular material. While it does make the apron heavy duty, until it is washed, it’s going to be stiff.
Its cost reflects its imperfections.

Durable Fabric Selection for Long Term Use
Our full length aprons are made with a 100% cotton bib and skirt front, and feature reinforced seams and heavy lining for added durability. To maintain the apron’s shape and resist wrinkling, we use a thicker lining material such as cotton duck, lightweight canvas, or twill. Additionally, all edges are sewn over to prevent fraying and maintain the apron’s strength even after multiple washings. All of our aprons are fully lined.
Full length aprons are designed to fit a wide range of body shapes and styles.
With longer neck ties, and an extended bib length, protecting the “girls” won’t be a problem no matter what size they are. The skirt measures a full 12 inches wider than most aprons, providing protection from spills and stains not only in front, but your hips as well. The extra long waist ties can either be wrapped around and tied in front, or be tied in back to accommodate larger waist sizes. The waist “band” is curved providing a more tailored, natural fit than your typical commercial apron.
Apron Care and Use
I cannot say this enough: aprons are made to be used. Regardless of the pattern or look, the materials are durable, washable, and will hold up to daily use. Before I began selling aprons, I made myself aprons made out of the very same materials. These aprons are nearly a decade old, and still look great. Use them! Wash them. Dry them. They will be fine.
